We have a vacant studio for the months of June and July, and we want you to use it. Mparntwe residents are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications close at midnight 18 May 2024.
Watch This Space (WTS) is located in Mparntwe/Alice Springs on Arrernte Country. We pay respect to its traditional custodians, the Arrernte people, who continue to nurture and care for this apmere/country/home. WTS recognises that colonisation is still happening, now and across the country, and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.
WTS recognises that written, online applications are not accessible to everyone. If this model is not suitable for your needs please email wts@wts.org.au to discuss other application models that will better assist you. We accept video submissions (up to 10 minutes) as an alternative to written submissions.
PROGRAM OFFERS:
Free studio hire for 4, 6 or 8 weeks (fully subsidised thanks to Australia Council for the Arts)
$500 artist fee
3.8 x 3.5m studio with desk and chair, including air-conditioning split-system
Creative, practical and professional support from WTS staff
The opportunity to work in a creative environment amongst five other studio artists as well as local and visiting exhibiting artists
Use of WTS tools and equipment (with prior arrangement)
Access to communal kitchen with fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities
Central location: only a 15 minute walk from the town centre, shops and supermarket
Opportunity to contribute to WTS Creative Program with an open studio, screening or exhibition (external to WTS Gallery)
SUCCESSFUL ARTISTS ARE REQUIRED TO:
Pay a $150 bond (refundable on return of studio to its original state).
Become a member of WTS ($52 for a whole year).
Submit two journal entries in WTS TAiR journal
