Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe Mparntwe' by Children’s Ground Artists

Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe Mparntwe is a group exhibition by Children’s Ground Artists and Marketplace Independant artists. Exhibition opens on Friday 8 September as part of the Desert mob 2023 satellite program.

At Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe – Mparntwe (Children’s Ground – Alice Springs) we are leading the way in teaching our children our way. We teach them about the Land – from which everything comes – language, lore, culture. Children learn their responsibilities for country and how they are connected to it, their kin and the wider world.

This exhibition celebrates our diverse artists and artworks that have been developed at Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe by our children, young people, adults and elders.

This special exhibition celebrates our artists and the artworks created by children, young people, adults and Elders at Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe.

We are presenting our stories through many art forms, from ceramics, linocuts, printed books and learning resources to digital media, apps, animations, music and performance. We nurture and maintain our First Languages and embrace new and old ways of creating, learning, and teaching!

This exhibition features...

-Lino prints and ceramics based on the Arrernte Seasons, created through Charles Darwin University visual art workshops
-Bush tucker paper mache props made with kids for our Merne Mwerre video clip
-Videos and animations in the Pantry Space
-Over five years of digital illustrations developed as part of First Language learning resources
-Wire sculptures
-Photographs and art created by children during learning and health & wellbeing sessions
-Interactive kid's art activities
