Broken Plates

Watch This Space and the Alice Springs Clay Target Club present a very special event for Apmere Mparntwe, the 2022 Ceramics Triennale. Playing to the Triennale theme of “anarchy”, we investigate a novel alternative to the rubbish bin for ways to deal with kiln casualties. Breaking plates and other vessels is a time-weathered tradition to both welcome luck into your life, and honour those departed. Give works that didn’t survive firing a second life (or a decent send-off), while mixing up the clay targets used at the local Clay Target Club.

The session includes:

• Learn how to handle and shoot a gun, and proper safety techniques from Clay Target Club supervisors

• Round 1: Shoot your own ceramics on plinths

• Round 2: Trap shooting (clay pellets)

• Scoring over drinks
