An interplay between artificial and natural, the artists wrestle with their relationships to time, intimacy, landscape and money through the lens of the body. The first collaboration between dance artist Ashleigh Musk and video artist Ivan Trigo Miras, CRISÁLIDA is an immersive installation blending video, sound and the body to create a space for introspection.

Ashleigh Musk (she/her)
www.ashleighmusk.art
Ashleigh is a dancer, choreographer, dramaturg, and facilitator based on Arrernte Country. Her choreographic practice is deeply involved in traversing the future of the Anthropocene, with a sensitivity to place and landscape to unearth physical, contextual, and ecological reciprocity.
The work is often interactive, asking audiences to engage in the construction/deconstruction of its landscapes. Ashleigh activates industrial materials in experimental ways, revealing complex relationships through the delicate handling of junk-like objects. By bringing bodies into relationship with ecological crises, she is interested in creating work which reflects to us our own fragility, unbalance, and contradictions.
My works have been presented across the country at Sydney Dance Company’s INDance season, Metro Arts, In/ARI, Dancehouse x Melbourne Fringe, spring.loaded.dance festival, Desert Festival, The Unconformity and Mona Foma. My critically-acclaimed work, Fertile Ground, co-created with Michael Smith, recently received a Green Room Award and multiple nominations.
Significant projects in the past 12 months include: developing ‘Chaos in Concert’ with Jenni Large and Anna Whitaker, touring ‘SUB’ and ‘Fertile Ground’ to national platforms across so-called Australia, working as the artist-in-residence at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, working as a collaborating artist on ‘Desert Hothouse’ and collaborating on youth project ‘Alice Can Dance’ with GUTS Dance and participating as a selected artist in ‘Conversations on Performance’ at Festival TransAmériques and at the International Choreographers Retreat with Montreal Danse (Canada).
Ivan Trigo Miras (he/him)
Ivan is a Spanish photographer currently based on Arrernte Country capturing primarily landscape, portrait, and movement photography in both digital and analog forms. As an emerging artist, Ivan uses photography to see the world through its details, with a focus on playing with light, movement, and sensation.
Since 2017 he has been capturing artistic projects, in particular dance projects, with artists, festivals and companies including Figueres es Mou festival (Spain), Supercell Festival of Contemporary Dance (Brisbane), GUTS Dance, Ashleigh Musk, Bush Foods Festival, DesertMob and Desert Festival (Alice Springs).
With interests in science, anthropology and geopolitics, Ivan is looking to create images which explore control, manipulation, and consequence. To demonstrate what is real/false in our existence, using the illusion of film and photography to amplify intimate moments which distort our reality. Waiting for that spontaneous moment never to be repeated, capturing the unpredictability of bodies, people, and landscapes.
Anna Whitaker (she/her)
Anna Whitaker is a multi award-winning Meanjin/Brisbane based sound designer and composer. She graduated from Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Technology, and since has designed and composed for productions including MONA FOMA, Sydney Dance Company, Australasian Dance Company, The Farm, Tasdance, Stompin', Aha Ensemble, La Boite Theatre Company, Brisbane Festival, Bleach* Festival, HOTA Gold Coast, Festival 2018, Vulcana Circus and Playlab.
Her vast background in classical music and technology-based sound art result in musical concoctions from the traditional and contemporary worlds. Anna received the 2020/2021 and 2019 Matilda Award for Best Sound Design for her work on Michael Smith’s ‘Cowboy’ and The Farm’s ‘Throttle’ respectively. Anna's unique voice is also evident in her installation works which have exhibited at Bleach* Festival, HOTA, MetroArts and QPAC Museum. Anna has a strong interest in composition for contemporary dance, and making and collaborating with regional artists and communities.
Anna premiered her own work “Full Spectrum” alongside collaborating visual artist Riley Towers at Metro Arts in February 2024, entailing a 360 degree sensory experience investigating the relationship of live projection art and sound. Anna is interested in exploring the junctions of sound and other artforms in more depth in a performative setting as she develops her craft.
