Project Pine Gap is a dreamstate reflection of the artworks displayed inside the joint-defence facility Pine Gap. Combining descriptions of artworks seen by people who have entered Pine Gap with AI generated imagery and painted works, Georgie Mattingley recreates an ethereal interpretation that is distorted by memory, secrecy, power and control. What started as covert research has now expanded into a public campaign, showcasing replicas of what may be the most private artworks in the world; the Pine Gap collection.
This project was commissioned by WTS x Assembly197 as part of the SITUATE 24-25 program. Made possible by Creative Australia and Regional Arts Fund.
