Get in Touch!

Please join us to celebrate the incredible talent of our artists in Central Australia by attending our annual Lofty Award Night and EOY Celebrations on Saturday the 5th of December. This evening will recognise one artist who will be selected by the general public and members of the WTS selection committee.

There will be food, there will be good company and an amazing line up of entertainment throughout the whole evening, and of course, the presentation of the 2015 Lofty Award and trophy designed by local artist/video producer and WTS Board Member Leo Ortega.

Nominations for the award close on the 27th of November, so if you know an outstanding artist whose contribution to the Central Australian community needs to be recognised, now is the time to put them forward. You can find more information about the Lofty’s and nominee eligibility below. To nominate, download the 2015 Lofty Nomination Form (or Word Version) and send to

For the evenings entertainment we are looking to showcase local performers. We are celebrating all things weird, wonderful and experimental so if you have an out there concept, performance, installation, sound scape, video work etc. download the Expressions Of Interest Form and send to by Tuesday 24th of November.

Last but not least, this Saturday the 21st of November, we are having a working bee at WTS to prepare for the wonders and festivities that the evening will entail. We will be working from 9am-2pm and there will be a BBQ, cold drinks, excellent folks and good hustle, so bring along your family and friends. Your help is hugely appreciated so we hope to see you there!

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more info and updates in the coming weeks. We’re getting excited!

About The Lofty

The Lofty Award is Alice Springs’ annual independent art award, designed to celebrate high endeavour in arts practice in Central Australia.

The award was created in 2011 in honour of the late and great Pam Lofts who is recognised for her commitment and vast contribution to the Central Australian artistic community. Whilst boasting a diverse and celebrated body of work, Pam was also a founding member of Watch This Space, the artists run initiative that serves to support and promote independent contemporary arts practices in Alice Springs. The Lofty award is designed to acknowledge the recipients’ contribution to community through their practice, and recognises those who play a role in the ‘ever evolving creative culture of Central Australia’. Whilst the award is given to an individual, it is also the broader community who benefit as it enables the a wide range of people to be inspired and participate in arts and culture, and is a chance for them to come together and recognise the individuals who are responsible for nurturing and maintaining this in and around Alice Springs. The winner of the Lofty will receive a locally designed commemorative trophy commissioned by Watch This Space, a lifetime membership to Watch This Space and inclusion in the 2016 program, and a $1000 cash prize. To be eligible for the award, the nominee must:

  • Be a current or previous member of Watch This Space
  • Demonstrated a dedication and passion for maintaining a high standard of arts practice that builds the cultural voice of Central Australia

Nominations close on Friday 27th of November. Shortlisted applicants will be notified before the annual Lofty Awards night, held at Watch This Space on the 5th of December.
